Going Back to My Roots (and what you can expect from me in 2013) - When I Grow Up

Going Back to My Roots (and what you can expect from me in 2013) - When I Grow Up Illustrated Theodore Roethke Quote by Satchel and Sage Despite my creative brain and Renaissance Soul tendencies, I am A Planner, A Reviewer, An Organizer (see my 3 years as an Executive Assistant). And with the dawn of a new year comes a Blank Calendar, which is something way too seductive for me to not dream on, write on, and plan on. In a word: Growth. Which is actually making me smile a bit, because in order to move forwardI think I need to go backwards. Allow me to explain. When I started working as The When I Grow Up Coach, I ran a scholarship that allowed me to get a loud-and-clear message from 23 applicants. In reading into why they wanted to work with me, I got 3 very distinct reasons: they didn’t know what they want to be when they grew up they knew what they wanted to do, but couldn’t see how to actually make it work while keeping a roof over their heads and putting food in their (and their kids!) bellies they were doing what they wanted to do, but it wasn’t going as well as they thought and they needed a push It was a HUGE realization for me, and I immediately went to work courting all those groups. Now, here we are 4 years later, and I realizein order to grow, to make a difference, to be a catalyst for creative career bliss, I need to get back to my roots. Its scary to put in writing, but Ill say it: I want to be the Go To Coach for creative people who dont know what they want to doyet. Not only that, but Im on a mission for all creative types to see the possibility in making a grown-up living doing what they love. Thats my message, and I want to shout it from the rooftops. Now dont get me wrong I love working with all the groups I listed above, which is why Ive been so resistant in intentionally neglecting any of them, and I will absolutely work with them one-on-one but I want to set my sights on serving those who dont know what they wanna be when they grow up in larger numbers and at a lower price point. So, what can you expect from me in 2013? Instead of running my Operations! (which I talked more about here) which catered to all of those creative career changer groups I listed above Im gonna be crafting a program thats specifically for those who dont know what they wanna be when they grow up. Sure, I have a workbook that I can point people to that absolutely helps with this, but this is More. This is Support. This is Accountability. This is Play. This is Fun. This is Exploration. This will be a Process that is based on the hundreds of people Ive coached and their realizations, goals, and roadblocks. I even have the perfect name for it, which Ill torture you a bit by withholding for a lil while. But I can promise itll be the funnest just how I like it. (Sound like you? Sign up here and you’ll be the first to get all the info) A quieter blog. The guest posts have been overwhelming for me, and so Im limiting them to one a week, and only from my Spectacular Sponsors. One juicy post from me, one from a brilliant guest, and maybe an announcement at the end of each week. That’ll be it, unless there’s more that needs to be said. And while I did have the thought of only writing posts that are directed to those who don’t know what they wanna be when they grow up, I can’t/won’t/don’t wanna stop writing about my entrepreneurial journey and what I’m doing and the lessons I’ve learned along the way, so that won’t cease at all. More love to my Grown-Up Gigs. There’s been 2 of em so far (and you can watch/listen to em by getting on this list), and they leave me giddy. Giddy! I tend to pay attention to things like that. Sign me up for more giddiness, always. An Effective Escape: available for your e-reader! What’s gonna be better than being able to offer this at a lower price point AND have peeps be able to buy it through Amazon? Nothing I can think of. Major love for The Declaration of You as it debuts as a real-live book this summer. Jess and I are planning the funness as we speak! Another round of Golden Ticket. OK, so this is absolutely for those in my 3rd group, but I cant help it. Tanya and I have too much fun together, and I have a feeling our event on February 2nd for our current Golden Goddesses will be one of the highlights of my year. Steady work with one-on-one clients. I mean honestly, the high I get from actually coaching as opposed to writing and the other stuff I do is the highest of the highs for me, and I don’t intend for it to stop. Thankfully you all help me with that, as I’m currently booked through March (and only have 3 spots left til April). If you know you wanna work with me but are unsure which package is right for you, fill this out and I’ll get back to you with a personal response within 48 business hours. I ain’t gonna lie: it’s gonna be a challenge for me to say No to the opportunities that arise that aren’t linked to My Message, and you might see things from me this year that are for the other groups. That means that either (a) I couldn’t resist or (b) it was a commitment that was already standing before I made this, um, stand. I’ll obviously keep you posted with how this is going along the way. How’s that for A Plan?

Important Tips on What to Include in a Resume Sample

Important Tips on What to Include in a Resume SampleAn ideal resume sample should not only be well-organized and as impressive as you are. It should be presented in such a way that it catches the attention of the reader and is made to spark the interest of the employer. The result of being able to meet this challenge is a more productive resume. This means that your resume is written in a way that will look great on paper but is also properly interpreted in a way that will not bring you closer to your target. Many candidates have been burned by poor resume samples that offer little or no value, but in reality, it can be difficult to write a very appealing resume without actually reading one. Here are a few tips that will help you avoid this trap. One: Make sure you've got a resume and cover letter ready. This way, you won't be using up valuable time with research if you've made the decision to hire someone to do the work. When you've put together both of these documents, it's a good id ea to do some background checking on the prospective employee in question. By following this guide, you'll be able to recognize these common mistakes that would otherwise end up making you look silly in the eyes of your prospective client. Two: Make sure you don't make spelling errors. You wouldn't be hiring someone to write your cover letter if you didn't trust them to make the same mistakes you'd make. In fact, when you're looking for someone to work with, make certain that you're comfortable with your resume and the overall presentation of the person you are seeking. They should not be scared to try something new or offer you some unique insight.Three: Put together a quality resume and a spelling and grammar check before you mail it to an employer. This way, you'll get the information you want to know and you won't waste your time correcting any spelling or grammar errors. In some cases, hiring an outside company to check the resume may be the only way to insure that you get the j ob that you want.Four: Make sure you avoid the misspellings that you may be seeing. When you come across a word that you are unsure of, make a point of checking it out on Google first. This way, you'll have a record of the person's correct spelling and the rest of the company can see that you're able to put words together without any delay.Five: Make sure you include your contact information on your resume. This is very important because this will allow the person reading your resume to make contact with you and even arrange for a phone interview.
